At the CPN conference this summer in San Marcos, Sara Bridges was announced as the incoming president taking over for Jonathan Raskin who served for the past 6 years. Sara is a professor in the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Memphis. In addition to her interests in constructivist psychology, Sara’s research and counseling interests include human sexuality, couples therapy, and the psychology of women. Sara served as the conference coordinator of the NAPCN conference held in Memphis in 2004, which had been judged as an enormous success by faculty and students. She has been an active member of CPN and has served on the steering committee for the last several years. In addition to CPN activities, Sara has co-edited several books with Jon Raskin (Studies in Meaning I & II), served as treasurer for the Humanistic division of APA, is a reviewer for the Journal of Constructivist Psychology, and has published several articles and book chapters related to constructivism.

Before looking ahead, Sara feels it is important to recognize how far Jon Raskin has taken CPN during his six years as president. Among her goals for the future of CPN is to continue to make the organization feel like an inclusive home for faculty, students, practitioners, and others. She also hopes that constructivism will further its reach within psychology and will build ties with other disciplines.

We are grateful that Sara is willing to take on the challenges of CPN president. Her enthusiasm for her new role demonstrates how much she loves and believes in this organization. As Sara takes over the helm she will help CPN to continue to flourish. We are confident that she will build upon the already solid foundation of CPN to help the voice of constructivism become even stronger.
